The legislature should go into special session immediately to provide property tax relief and to redistrict the congressional maps in Kansas. Property taxes are a statewide crisis in Kansas. The legislature failed to get property tax relief done in regular session. Seniors are getting taxed out of their homes, working families are having trouble making ends meet, and young people can’t afford a house. It’s time to get property tax reform done in special session. Kansas can’t wait any longer. Also, while Democrat states across the country have redistricted to pick up Democrat seats, leadership in the Kansas legislature refused to act. Republicans have a supermajority in the legislature. We have the votes to get this done. The legislature must take action immediately.
